Friday June 13

We are still in Dawson City, Yukon waiting for Andy's truck to get fixed. The fuel pump went out and luckily the Dodge dealer in Whitehorse had one. We will be on the road again tomorrow for Chicken and Tok.

So yesterday was a relaxing day spent just doing "stuff" around the rigs and laundry. We went out to eat supper last night again at Sourdough Joe's restaurant..... of course on the menu was halibut..... yummy!!!!

This am after Charlotte finished their laundry we took a ride over the ferry to the other side of the Yukon river and drove up the mountain a few miles to see what it was like for our trip in the morning. Bill and I drove down to the ferry around 8 this am and there were only about 3 rigs waiting to cross. By the time we got there at 11 there were 7 and more coming all the time. The ride across the ferry is free and it is a quick ride. They only go during the summer and is closed in the winter. Of course the Top of the World Highway is closed in the winter as well.
The river's current is swift and it didn't take long to get across. We got up to a high spot and could see where the Yukon and the Klondike River's meet.... beautiful sight! We could also look down on the town of Dawson City. Dawson City has no paved streets. The stores fronts are painted very nicely and are old and preserved. They told us that is gets down to at least -40 degrees in the winter here. The town boasts about 1,400 during the summer but only about 1,000 stay in the winter.

I will get the pictures we took this am loaded on the blog and share with you!
Stay tuned!

Until next time...
BJ
