How did Bill's surgery go? What a helluva way to get out digging for clams! Bruce and I are leaving at the buttcrack of dawn for Boston on Thursday. We're staying with a college buddy of mine and he's going to show us Boston for a few days. Then we, along with five other folk, are traveling by car & truck up to Portland where Bruce will see a fraternity brother/architect friend of his from K-State. Then we're headed up to Rockport Maine later that day where we'll board the Victory Chimes (www.victorychimes.com) along with 11 other St. Mary of the Plains College graduates from my class. It's the boat featured on the back of the Maine quarter. We'll sail around Penobscot Bay and will probably drink a lot. Imagine that.... The captain is also a SMPC alum and keeps talking about fresh Maine lobster but for someone who grew up on Mrs. Paul's fishsticks, it's kinda lost on me. We'll dock on the 17th and fly home the 18th. If I draw a sober breath it'll be my own damned fault! It's been hitting over 100 each day here since the end of June and "cooling off" to low 70s at night. Rain all the way around us. We are as dry as our humor. Harvest is wrapping up and there have been claims of 85-90 bushels an acre. Have been enjoying the blog and pictures. Hope this finds you all well and Bill's recovery is quick!
