It is a gorgeous Monday! The weather is absolutely beautiful! No clouds, no wind!
The weather last week was mixed to say the least...warm some days and cold, windy and rainy other days. Compared to what is up north, we can't complain.
We didn't do a lot of traveling around last week..... we went to Don/Wes flea market last Sat. and got some fresh vegetables and some fruit. Don/Wes is in Donna and the next small connecting town is Weslaco so therefore the name Don/Wes. It is I think one of the better places to get fresh fruit and vegetables in the valley that we know of. The radishes were huge and the oranges so sweet. Now the 1015 onions are coming in so I want to get some of those before we head home. We picked up some wonderful huge huge carrots. They are sweet and so good.
Sunday, we went to church and got there early enough this time! It was still packed before very long.
Tuesday was a cloudy cool day so Nancy made chicken and noodles for everyone and we all finished the meal with mashed potatoes, mixed vegetable medley, cake and bread...it was all so good because it was homemade!
Wednesday, we spent the day around here and I finished my quilt top! It is now ready to go to the quilter when I get back to Topeka. I sure hope she can get it done by June anyway! Wednesday evening we went to Macaroni Grill for dinner...it was pretty good but Bill still thinks Carraba's are better......
Thursday, more time around here... our days were pretty relaxed and not much going on.... and so was Friday and Saturday and Sunday.....main events of the last few days have been watching March Madness! We had really hoped Kansas would come through but it was not meant to be! Now we will cheer and hope Kansas State makes it far!
Today is the last day that our good friends, Dennie and Karen, will be with us.... we have been together off and on since October in Coffeyville! We have spent the last 3 months together exploring the Valley. They are moving on to Arizona for a month or so of traveling before heading to North Carolina in June. They are expecting a new great-granddaughter in June! We are really going to miss them as we have gotten really close....they are such great people and we have had such fun with them. They will leave early in the morning for the west...... So travel safe, dear friends!
Well, that about catches us up again....we will use this final week to get things back together and be ready to leave for Victoria on Saturday....
So stay tuned!

Finally Friday!
I remember writing that when I was still teaching in emails I sent to my friend, Judy, on our daily postings to each other..... anyway...it's Friday again and the week has been zipping by!
We haven't had a real exciting week but we have LOVED the weather that has FINALLY arrive! It has been in the 80's and one day was 90! YAHOO!!!!!
We went to church last Sunday at the church in Mission.... an old, old church and I wrote you earlier about the Priest having his dogs come with him...... we got to church about 8:40 for the 9AM service and it was already PACKED!!! We stood at the back of the church the entire service. During the processional sure enough the Priest walked down the aisle and the dogs were behind him greeting everyone who reached down to pet them..... we know now we will have to leave earlier to get a seat!
We had a fish fry with our friends here in the park on Sunday afternoon...too much food and the fish, halibut, striper and salmon were delicious! But we had a great time!
Monday found us just hanging out here and I sewed most of the day Monday...... it was cloudy and kind of dreary but the sun came out late afternoon for a while!
Just as a teaser!
Tuesday, was our day for our final Newmar luncheon in the Valley..... we drove to that and stopped by Office Max to look for an office chair to use at our computer desk area or when I am sewing. The chair is great but larger than I thought for this small area we have....but we like it! The chiropractor we went to suggested it and I had been thinking about getting one but wasn't sure about how or what we would do with it when we travel...but we have found a solution I think...stay tuned!
Wednesday is "sew day" here in the park so I went to the hall and sewed while the other gals worked on some placemats Nancy was teaching...... I came home around 1 and spent the afternoon sitting outside some .....it was so nice! We went to BJ's Brewery for dinner....it is a really good restaurant here in the Valley..... I was so hungry for a "regular" hamburger! Everyone else had different meals....... it is just a nice restaurant for that...big selection!
Thursday we were going to Mexico and then decided to go to Brownsville to get some shrimp..... Dennie and Karen and us were going to go but they had an unexpected water problem and couldn't so Ron/Nancy/John/Patsy and us went. We drove to San Isabel and ate lunch at Pelcian Station on the gulf bay...it was sooo foggy you couldn't even see the bridge for Padre Island....the traffic was really picking up so I'm glad we didn't go across the bridge! We ate lunch and then drove about 15 miles to the Shrimp Outlet where we bought our shrimp...it is huge and we bought 10 lbs of fresh wild caught Gulf shrimp! YUMMY!!!!! We came home and vacuum packed one bag and ran out of bags so we will have to get more soon.
We had a "block party" across the street last night at 4:30..... several couples were there and it was nice.... we only had to walk across the street. It was a potluck so there was plenty to eat and quite a selection. I finally am able to put some faces with the ladies I met at sewing and have seen others..... we hadn't met to many of our neighbors down the block so it was nice to do that....it got cool around 6 so many didn't stick around so we came home around 6:30 or so..... time to watch American Idol and Survivor and then call it a day!
Today is a day to hang around here .... Bill has finished washing the rig and it's my turn to wash windows...... so I guess I had better get busy with that...also have some clothes that need to hang outside to dry.....
So that is about all for this week or this time!
Stay tuned!
Until next time!

catching up time again!
The days have really been flying by wayy too fast! It will be soon time for us to begin heading back North and our winter will be over!
Sat.Feb.20 we went to a Valley Quilt Show.... there were some gorgeous quilts that the ladies and gentlement have made and shown...... so much inspiration but where is the time????? I continue to work on my quilt and still have hope to get it to the quilter in Topeka...
We made a trip to Mexico the week of Feb. 22nd- I just don't remember which day?? It was crowded and we got some more of our "list" of items we needed or wanted at this point! We hope to go sometime again this month to finish up our list for everyone.
Last Friday we (Dennie/Karen and us) decided to go to Padre Island and then over to Brownsville for some shrimp... On our way over we talked about not being able to on the 4 hr. cruise to Port Brownsville. It was such a beautiful day we changed our plans and stopped at the cruise station to see if it was still available. The next one was at 2PM so we pd.for our tickets and then got lunch at Dirty Al's... a shrimp basket was included in the price of the ticket..... we didn't bring our camera or jackets...we knew the trip back would be cool..... we made a trip into town to get a hat/visor for each of us and we were set. The cruise went all the way up to a point in Brownsville and we pulled into a canal for the shrimp boats....they are huge! I guess you will have to take my word for it! Then on farther down the canal where we saw a huge offshore oil platform being built. No ONE was allowed to take pictures of this area due to Homeland Security issues... this was also an area where the Navy had some mothballed ships and some they were taking apart and reusing the steel. We got back to the docks around 6:30PM and it was a chilly no cold ride back as the boat was an open air boat with benches all around. Luckily no one caught a cold because of it!
Just about every Friday morning the park has some type of breakfast for the park....yesterday was biscuits and gravy....so we went to it and then to a craft show. Later in the afternoon we rode with Dennie and Karen to HEB- a local grocery store- to get some items for a Fish fry we are having on Sunday afternoon.
It is smarter to go to the store during the week but not on Friday,Saturday or Sunday around here..... all the Mexican's shop on the weekend and Walmart or the shopping areas are packed on the weekends.
We will make a trip to Mexico this next week sometime but it is quickly filling up also..... we have our last monthly "Newmar" luncheon for the winter and I have been sewing at the hall here on Wednesday's. Thursday we are invited to a "block party" across the street..... the weather has been so cool this winter we really haven't talked to our neighbors much as no one is really outside when it is cooler.
The weather has been cool but later this week it is to be in the mid 80's and SUNSHINE!!! YEA!!!!!!
I'm going to put some pictures of our Newmar BBQ we had and also of our site here in Hidden Valley...it is such a nice sight that I hate to leave it but it is so far across the valley to go anywhere.... this side of the Valley is beginning to really build up, though.....
So until next time!
