Saturday morning

Hopefully this will go through this time.....
We have been busy this past week with Christmas with my sister's family last Sunday and so by the 'real" Christmas day we were all exhausted and it was raining! So on Christmas day B.and I just relaxed all day and stayed tucked inside. It was great spending time with my niece and nephew and family for at least some time. I can't remember the last time all of our families have been together at a holiday.

So the day after Christmas my sister and I shopped till we dropped! It was fun and I found several things...clothes and some Christmas "decorations" pcs. on 1/2 price! B. got me a Waterford Christmas ornament this year for Christmas..just what I had been wanting! So we found Dillards had them 1/2 pr. after Christmas so I picked up a couple more.Hopefully next year he will remember to add to my collection so when we have a stick and brick of some kind in the years to come I can put them on a tree!

We took a road trip to Birmingham on Thursday to look at campers with my sister/bro-in-law. They are contemplating a different unit. We have gotten them to RV'ing and they love it! So they want something a little bit bigger and something they don't have to trade trucks with. We found a few nice ones that might work for them.... Always hard decisions!

Friday was spent cleaning our "home".... and doing some laundry. It looked like it really was going to storm here but just clouds that looked bad. It rained sometime during the night or early morning but not much. It is too turn cooler this week sometime...back to putting the hoses away at night for a couple of nights anyway.

Well, that about catches us up for this week. Not much going on today so far..... nothing really planned either!

I don't like to make New Year's resolutions but maybe I will try to do better at writing on a daily basis. Stay tuned!

Have a good weekend!
till next time!

Friday am before Christmas....

I think I'm going to have to begin writing during the day sometime...I seem to have more time and somewhat more energy to write! Don't hold your breath though!

We have had a busy last 2 weeks we have been here. My sister and I love to shop and we have hit the stores. The weather here in the south just doesn't bring my images of snow and griping about the weather, the cold and the crowds and wondering if we are going to get to go someplace to shop...... none of the above to stop you! except the crowds..... traffic on the blvd...is always there!

It has been wonderful spending time with my sister and brother-in-law. Am also looking forward to spending Sunday afternoon with her kids and their kids. So I imagine Christmas will be quiet because they will be with their other sides.

So I guess that is about it for now....
Have a Merry Christmas!

Guess this has become a monthly blog!

Sorry it has taken me almost a month to write! We have been very busy and so the evening's are spent just relaxing!

Since I've last written we left Lake Texoma with a freezer full of fish and lots of fun! We had a great time with our friends and sister/brother-in-law. We hope we can do it again!

We made it to Great Bend and on Wed.Nov. 14th we got our new rig---"home on wheels!"
It has taken some adjustment to get everything like we wanted and slowly it has become home. We lost some space, adjusted some space and gained some space..... others have told me its like moving into a new home...well, it has been but Bill and I have only moved once in our married life---- so this has been a new experience to us! But we really like it now and have enjoyed it immensely!
Thanks to our friends who came over from McPherson to help us... and our friends in Great Bend...they were all lifesavers and we really really appreciated their help! We developed a new method of moving at the end.... called the "shove" method..... shove it here and shove it there to just get it to the rig. It worked and so we had a couple of days to get things situated.

From Great Bend we went to our drive in rally to McPherson for the weekend. We had a great time and enjoyed seeing our friends before they all leave or stay in Ks for the winter.

We then went to Topeka to our kids..... and COLD weather and snow! We got the rig settled and unfortunately the weather didn't cooperate and it was cold most of the time we were there! Bill hated having to nightly go unhook the water hoses and sewer hose so they didn't freeze...... we now have to find a new and longer sewer hose......

Since the forecast last week for this week was to have snow and ice we decided to leave a week early.... so we had an early Christmas with the kids last Sunday and left on Monday. It was very hard to leave them but we had had enough of the cold temps with the new rig. This will be about the 2nd Christmas without the kids..... Christmas and family time can be any day of the year... time spent together is what was important!
We went to Great Bend again on Monday to have some things adjusted on the rig before leaving for the winter. Monday eve. we had supper with our friends in Great Bend and an evening of visiting. We really enjoy our time with them......
Leaving Tuesday am after they fixed the slideouts etc. we made it to east of OKC before stopping for the night. From there we got to Memphis on Wednesday. We stayed at the Tom Sawyer Mississippi RV Park right on the Mississippi River! It was a neat park and I'm sure in the nicer season it is a wonderful park..... It was too cold to be outside to enjoy watching the barges go up and down the river!
We made it to Montgomery on Thursday for our month's stay in Montgomery. The park where we are at is very close to my sister and it is very nice! Even have a concrete patio with a glass patio table! We loved the warm temps of today! It is great to be able to spend time with my sister/brother-in-law....

So that about catches us up on our "daily" happenings as we begin traveling for the winter!

Until next time!

Sunday evening

We have been at Lake Texoma for over 10 days! Boy the time has really flown by!
We are leaving Monday am to go to the town where our dealer is for the new rig. It is to be in Great Bend Monday!!! The time is almost here and I'm not looking forward to all the work of emptying this rig! I know my better half will be saying.... "where did we get all this stuff!":) Some friends called today and will help us "move" over to the new rig! Bless them!

We have done lots of fishing and have really enjoyed spending time with my sister and brother-in-law and also a visit from my other sister who lives in OKC. It was fun having the "sisters" weekend! We have sooo many fish to bring home and will have a cooler almost full! The other 3 couples left yesterday and there will be another couple leaving on Wed. for their winter home in the south of Texas.

The weather here has been great! It was even hot yesterday and Friday! Today was the day to get the capris back out! Hard to think it is NOVEMBER!!!! Guess we need to get used to the warmer weather in the winter, at least when we get to Alabama and Florida!

So we begin traveling tomorrow and will be in Great Bend for the week then on to McPherson for the weekend with our friends and the drive-in rally then "home" to Topeka for a while! Anxious to see the kids again!

So that's our news for the week!!!
Have a good evening!

Guess this will be a weekly blog

Hi,
I know I know...... it seems I can't stay on top of this at all! I think nightly about writing something and then bam I forget and shut down the laptop! Sorry! Hang with me!

Since I've last wrote we have had Halloween and done some traveling. It was so fun to be a part of the little guys in our family's Halloween. I told B. when we left our daughter's house that night that I remember those days.....rush home, rush to eat and go out with the girls's trick or treating! E. fixed a great crockpot lasagna we haven't had before so that was something new and yummy! But.... my son-in- law informed me he helped! :)

The water had been shut off at Lake Shawnee on Tuesday..... guess putting signs out for Thursday, Nov. 1st. meant nothing.... they came around and said they were shutting the water off 2 days early. Good thing we were home because we didn't have our fresh water tank filled and was able to fill it.

We left early Thursday am, Nov. 1st for Lake Texoma. We arrived in good time to get set up and get caught up with our friends and my sister/brother-in-law. We met my sister/brother-in-law at Durant's walmart then traveled on together. It is so pretty here but the trees are all elm..... nothing like the red oak, pear trees at Lake Shawnee! Those trees were so red and just gorgeous!
I went fishing with the others on Sunday afternoon and yesterday. We caught over 50 fish but not our limits...... the guys went out this afternoon to try again.
That is a fun way to fish and the fun of catching them..... glad someone else has to clean them! :)

Tomorrow we are going to north of Ft. Worth to Cabela's. There are 14 of us here together. We have had lots of fun visiting and seeing some of the sights around here.

Tonite we are having a soup supper..... we had planned on eating outside but it turned cool last night and today has been kind of cool.....so everyone is coming to our rig to eat tonite! We will be compact in our rig...but it will be fun!

Well, that about catches everything up for now...
have a good evening!

Hey its only been 2 days this time!

It has only been 2 days since I've written!!! Yesterday B. and I went to KC to Nebraska Furniture Mart and Cabela's. And of course we ate lunch in the Mall area.....

Later that afternoon we met our daughter and son-in-law for supper at a local restaurant that serves all you can eat fried chicken on Wed. nights! Yummy!

Today, Thursday, we didn't do much this am but after lunch I dropped B. off at our other daughter's house so he could work on more landscaping and I went to the mall to walk around for a while! Lots of other women walking around the mall today......
This evening our daughter and grandsons came for supper since her hubby had a meeting.

It is chilly in the morning's here but still chilly during the day too..... it just hasn't warmed up as much as I figured it would. Still nice and sunny today though!

Well, that is all that we have been doing!

Some catching up to do Tuesday, Oct. 23rd

It is time I get you all caught up on our "daily happenings"..... we have had a busy week and have enjoyed the nice weather.

Since I last wrote we have done some traveling. Last Thursday morning, we traveled along with our oldest grandson to a camping rally in Halstead. Our grandson didn't feel too good when we picked him up and had the "croupy cough" but I kept thinking it would get better...well over the span of a couple of days a fever joined it. We were to stay until Sunday but when he got up on Sat. am with a fever still we decided the best place for him was home. So we headed back. It was a good thing since he was sick for the rest of the weekend. He is finally doing better and hopefully on the mend. Lots of colds and "stuff" going around.

Yesterday was a typical Kansas fall day..... cool, rainy and a good day to stay indoors. So we did mostly. I finally got my sewing machine out and sewed all afternoon. I had 2 projects that I started in Gillette, Wyoming at the end of June at our camping rally. I finished the first one yesterday and actually got it pinned to quilt. This afternoon I worked on the second one and got it finished and it is ready to be pinned to be quilted.

We are getting excited about leaving next week for Lake Texoma for a couple of weeks with some friends and my sister and brother in law who is meeting us from Alabama. My other sister will join us for the last weekend. It is fun to go fishing there. Now to try to empty my refrig. freezer to make room for fish!

It was a beautiful day here.... clear, crisp and so pretty out with the trees turning such beautiful colors. We didn't this kind of trees in such abundance in Western Ks! So pretty!

B. has been "piddling" around the camper some and doing some sorting. We are excited about getting the new rig in Nov. Yes, we will have a new "home" soon! Those of you that know us know our rig now is "blue" inside.... the new "home on wheels" has NO blue!!! I know I've gotten out of my box here but we are both looking forward to it!

Today he went over to our daughter's house to do some landscaping work in the front of their house. I had the day to myself and sewed!

So that what has been going on in our "neck of the woods"....
Enjoy the great fall days!

I know..days later

Boy am I having a hard time trying to write every day or evening!
The days seem to just zip by!

We watched the boys on Sat. night. They had fun and this "gramma" was tired! But we had fun being with them.

We had some rain this past weekend and it just seemed to thunder all night one night. The past couple of days have been really nice though. Just great fall weather.

We haven't done much the past couple of days... just some cleaning and sorting out of the rig. This afternoon we went to our storage shed and traded some winter clothes for the summer ones. I just hope by the time we get to Florida we won't need the winter clothes! haha!

We are leaving on Thursday am for a camping rally with our camping group. Looking forward to spending the weekend with them and catching up with everyone. We haven't seen some of them all summer since we were at Estes Park all summer.

till next time!

We hit the ground running......

Where did the week go? We got here Monday around noon and we haven't stopped since! Tuesday was spent catching up with our friends we are parked next too. Good to catch up with them. Tuesday eve we picked our grandson up and went "birthday "shopping/looking" so we had an idea of what to get him for his birthday. Wednesday was spent doing the shopping and his birthday at his house. Hard to believe he is 6!!!!

His younger brother has been sick with a cold so I have spent the past 2 days at their house watching him. He didn't feel real well yesterday but today was better. I just hate to see them sick.. even worse than my own girls!

We are babysitting tomorrow evening and looking forward to the boys staying with us. We are to have thunderstorms tonite and tomorrow.

It was good to hear from our friends in Estes. They mostly have left by now and are on the road or leaving tomorrow! Guess their season is "officially" over! Where has the time gone?

We got an email from our friend back "home"..... the head football coach left this week!!! What kind of turmoil are they in now?????? Times are changin'!!!!!

We just got back from seeing the movie 3:10 to Yuma!!! Excellent movie!!! Love Russell Crowe and Peter Fonda was in the movie too.

Have a good evening!
Till next time!

Sunday evening Oct. 6

We left Stockton around 9 this am with a cold wind blowing. I thought sure we would run into rain on the way across the state but by the time we got to the Wilson exit the temperature literally jumped to 82 degrees! It was nice but warm this afternoon.

We went out to eat supper with my brother, aunt and 2 cousins and spouses tonite. After sitting at the restaurant catching up for 2 hours we headed back out to the RV. The clouds were dark, lightening and some sprinkles. We didn't get much out here where we are parked. We had a nice visit and glad we got together.

Monday am we will pack up and leave to head to Topeka. I'm getting anxious to see all the "kids" and get settled again.

Until later

Saturday morning

Today is another windy day in Kansas! Sorry I haven't written any this week but "stuff" got in the way!

We had doctor's appt. a couple of days this past week and the truck had some work done on it so that meant 3 trips to Hays. Wednesday evening we ate supper with some friends and then went to their house for more visiting.
Thursday we spent the day visiting! Our next door neighbor and a few other places in town. Thursday afternoon I spent visiting my friends at "school". It was wonderful to reconnect with them and see how their lives were going. The time went by so fast. I was really glad I was able to do that. Even most of the kids I saw remembered me! I hope they stay in touch! ( I know most of them read this! )

Friday was spent at the RV mostly and late afternoon we went to our friends house and then decided to go to Plainville to eat supper. After that we came back to Stockton and rode around a little bit and then visited some more.
We are all getting so excited about our upcoming spring trip to Alaska! Sorry if you are getting tired of hearing that! :) BUT we are!

We haven't done much today so far... B. walked with D. this am. He tells me that we are going to start walking again when we get to Topeka. They have a great walking path around the lake there.
I have some laundry going and checking out the net.

We will leave in the am to go to Salina overnight then onto Topeka on Monday. I hope the storms wait till we get settled in Salina. Getting anxious to see the kids... Its been 3 months!!!

So until later

Sunday evening

We spent a very windy weekend at the lake outside of the town we used to live in. So today we loaded up and moved into the roadside park. We will spend the next week here. It was soooo windy all weekend at the lake and we couldn't even sit outside and enjoy the nice area. The grass is still green and the camping area looked really nice for September!

Today we hung around the camper for most of the afternoon then went up to our friends house for the evening. They had planned to come out to the lake but she had a sinus infection and was sick all weekend. Doing much better today but still coughing. We visited and the guys watched football to their hearts content.
After we drove to the next town to have Dairy Queen for supper we went back to their house and we did a "girls evening" of doing our feet! It was great and our feet look good! :)

The wind has gone done some for the evening but the weatherman says it might blow again tomorrow! Great!!!! :(

have a good evening!

3 weeks later!

Hi everyone!

I know it is about 3 weeks later! Boy have we been busy! We have ended our stay at Estes Park and are now back in Ks.
It was very hard for us to leave Estes Park and our friends there. We really enjoyed getting to know them and spend time with them. We certainly hope our paths cross again! We have made plans to do just that and we hope they come to pass!
We left there last Saturday and drove to Great Bend,Ks. We stayed at our friends shop. We had all the amenities and got the things done we wanted to. We got to visit with 4 other couples of our camping group so we had a great week! I'm sure they are ready for some peace and quiet! Today we drove to our old home town and will be here for about a week.
When we left the aspen were turning colors and it was definitely turning cooler up in the mountains. It is warm here in Ks. and we both noticed the heat for sure! But this evening it was cooler when the sun began to go down. What a difference a few months makes in getting used to the weather!
We didn't have bugs in Estes Park and boy they are here in KS.!!!! We drove into town this evening and it looked like it was snowing there were so many!
Well, this is all for tonite! Have a good evening!
till next time!

Almost a week later......

Hey everyone!

Sorry it has taken me so long to write again! We have been going out in the evening's to scope out the elk in the meadow. There are so many more each day. One evening a ranger told us that now the the weather is cooler and the days shorter more will gather. It is so neat to see/hear the bulls bulging and watch them "fight" with each other. There are so massive bull elk around here. Sat. am when we got to work there was a huge bull elk in the road at our park.He even helped himself to one of the workkampers hummingbird feeder and some bird food of another workkamper. The aspen are turning color a litle higher up.Last night the temperature got down to about 42. It may be cooler tonite.

Friday on our day off we went to the Scottish/Irish Higland festival here in Estes Park. It was a fun day and we enjoyed the music, seeing the Jousting and of course pretending we were Irish! I did find out my mother's maiden name was Scottish.
We didn't do much yesterday on our day off and today was the weekly trip to Longmont to get groceries. Hopefully we will be stocked now until we leave in a couple of weeks. It's hard to believe that the time is going so fast now. The park is slowing down except on the weekends and some of our workkamper friends will be leaving.

So now that I have caught up on our "daily" happening's I hope you have a good evening....
until next time!

Sunday evening

It has been several days since I've last written but not much has happpened in our "world" worthy of printing..... haha!!

We have had a few very busy days. Bingo is finished for another season in Estes Park. We all hoped that one of us would win the "big money" but it was not meant to be. We still stopped at the Dairy Queen for our evening treat!

There was a huge craft show at the downtown center this weekend so we went to it today. Some beautiful things and loved looking at the still life pictures of the area to check to see if we had been to some of these.

Laundry and relaxing was waiting for us when we got home from downtown and I'm still trying to get caught up. One of the guys here in the park brought us some fresh trout he had caught so B. grilled it tonite for supper. It was good but lots of bones!

After supper, we took a ride to Beaver Meadow and saw several herds of elk beginning to gather. What an exciting sight to see and hear! We now know we will be taking nightly rides to that area to see mother nature! It was getting dark when we left but just listening to them and seeing the huge massive bull elks begin to bugle to each other is quite a sight! We have been told we haven't seen anything yet! It must be getting colder up above for them to begin moving down to the meadows. One of the huge elks we saw had only one side of his huge antlers! He was enormous! We can only imagine how he lost the other half but evidently he was the winner!

The air is getting cooler each evening and the days are a comfortable . It didn't rain today but it sure looked like it could pour!

The park is so full that there were no RV sites or tent sites available last night. But Monday will be a mass exodus I'm sure! Traffic from the National Park was a steady stream going and coming today too. We decided we may go hiking tomorrow when everyone is leaving. I'm anxious to see if the trees are beginning to turn color. It might be a little early yet.

Until next time!

a few days later

Good evening!

It has been a few days since I've last written but nothing much exciting going on around here!
We had a busy Saturday at work and was glad to have time off Sunday and Monday. Sunday we kind of took it easy... doing some cleaning and laundry. We are still trying to figure out where in Florida we are going and need to get that narrowed down. Today we decided mid morning to go to Fort Collins and check out the KOA there that our friends stay at. So we found it and was so pleasantly surprised and pleased with it. We visited with a gal there for awhile about workkamping etc. at that park. Something to remember in the future! It is a huge park and very nicely layed out with lots of things going on. If Ft. Collins didn't get sooo hot in the summer compared to Estes park it might be something to think about!!!! We have really gotten spoiled by the wonderful temps of the mountains!!!

Speaking of which,...it was 85 inFt. Collins this afternoon and when we got back "home" itwas 63!!!! It has been kind of cloudy and cool but wonderful!!!!

We go back to work for our 3 days on tomorrow... a workkamper stopped by tonite and told us we only have 3 checking in tomorrow.... boy will that be a switch !!!!

I got my sewing machine out today to sew and haven't gotten much done! so there it sets!
Maybe tomorrow!!!!

Well, this is all for this evening....

We have food again! haha!!!

Good evening!

We left around 10 this am and went to Loveland for a few stops then onto Longmont. They really aren't that far in distance only about 10 miles or so on I-25. Of course our last stop is always Walmart before heading back up the "hill"...... something like just going to Hays to get groceries except alot more twists and turns!

We saw a ram on the way to Loveland today and of course the traffic was stopped. I can see where these poor animals become stressed..... people following them everywhere!

When we got up this am our view of Long's Peak had a dusting of snow!!!!!!! It was very pretty but was melted by the time we got home ..... I'm sure one day soon it won't be like that.

Right down the "roads" in the park where the RV storage area is there was a family of elk this evening ... a huge bull, female and calf. We also saw some in the downtown area when we left this am..... so it won't be long before they will be all over.
The bulls are still with some cows but they tell us that most bulls are up higher yet and will "congregate" before the rutting begins......

We will work tomorrow (Saturday) and then off Sunday and Monday. I definitely have some catchup around the rig to do.

So this is all for today....
have a good evening!

Not much luck tonite!

We have had a couple of busy days this week. Wednesday evening one of the workkampers celebrated his 66th birthday with pizza for everyone for supper. After that he gave a program on the Rocky Mountain animals and ghost towns of Colorado. It was interesting and we enjoyed learning something new! Did you know that a hummingbird's wings beat 70times per second! And their eggs are the size of a tic-tac?

We went to bingo tonite and the only winner of our group was Bill. There was 12 of us playing from the campground. No one in our group was the big winner of the blackout of $2600 but a few of us were close! One more week of bingo for the summer here. We have really had fun doing this and we all agreed the best part was the trip to Dairy Queen later! haha!!!!
On our way out the door of DQ looking across the street were a herd of elk grazing on the library grass in downtown Estes. We wondered if they bed down there during the night because several were laying down already!

We are not working tomorrow and heading to Longmont and Loveland..... the grocery list is long!

There was an interesting rig that pulled in today at the park. It was a 1981 Eagle bus. The gentlemen told us that he bought it at an auction from Tanya Tucker.... remember "Delta Dawn"???? His granddaughters went to school with Tanya Tucker's kids. We were told by some others in his group that Kenny Rogers had a table in his motorhome that she just loved so he gave it to her and it is still in the motorhome! How interesting!

Larry and Sherry left today ....we hated to see them go. We enjoyed showing them "our corner" of the world for a few days. We were glad to have them with us.

The weather has turned cooler for a few days. It cooled down to about 60 late this afternoon with sprinkles. Tonight's low is to get down to 45!!!!! I'm going to have to put my sandals away for a while!!!

Well, I think its time to call it a night.....
Have a good evening!

Tuesday eve.

We have had a long day today. Megan and Jeff left this am early to head farther west to Las Vegas for a week. Jeff's parents live in Vegas and I know they are looking forward to their visit.
Jeff has become my "computer guru" and I always look forward to his help! I really do appreciate it! --- even if I have to give him greif!!!! haha!!!!

It was busy at work today and the day went by pretty fast. Larry and Sherry, our Newmar friends who are visiting, left this am to drive up over Trail Ridge Road. They had some great pictures of a large herd of elk and even a large Momma and baby moose! I think Sherry will be glad to get her feet "solid" on low ground though!

We went to Bingo at the American Legion tonite hoping to win the big "pot" of over $2,000!!!
It will have to go out on Thursday night. I have been lucky and won the final bingo of the evening 3 times this summer and won again tonite! hmmmmmmm what shall I buy?????
They have an awesome glass shop here and I may have to split it between that and a quilt shop! Of course!!!! I told Bill my stash is growing! :)

So that was our day today..... this week has gone by fast and in one month we will leave here. Looking forward to leaving but will be sad to leave our friends we have made.Great people!

take care...until next time

Busy day off today

We had a busy day off today. This morning, Megan, Sherry Dewitt and I went downtown to walk around Estes Park. Larry and Sherry are visiting us for a few days from Madison,Ks. They are escaping the hot Kansas heat. Bill and Larry washed their blazer this am and Jeff played golf. After we all returned back to the rigs, we went downtown and had lunch. Then we took a ride from Estes Park to Glen Haven which was about 20 miles of beautiful country roads. The scenery never ceases to amaze me! When we got back we had a "special" margarita before supper. After we ate supper at Smokin' Dave's BBQ we took another ride in hopes of seeing some elk herds around or the goats --- well, we didn't see either !!!!

Jeff and Megan are leaving in the morning early to head to Las Vegas to spend some time with his parents. We have really enjoyed having them here.

On our travels around this evening we saw a female elk and a fawn. The female had a left hind leg that was either broken. It looked like to us that she had lost part of her hoof besides and it was dangling.

So that is it for today...... we are back at work in the am....... we work 3 days straight then off on Friday, working on Saturday and off Sunday and Monday.

So have a good evening!
Later....

Our new adventure!

Hi everyone,

Bill and I are beginning a new blog site. We want to share with you some of our "daily adventures" while on the road. You are invited to check back daily or almost daily! to see what we have done. Maybe this will help with some of your emails that I don't get back to!

We are in Estes Park, Colorado still workkamping at Elk Meadow RV Resort. It has been a very interesting summer for us and for the most part we have really enjoyed it and have met so many nice and interesting people. We have worked harder this summer than what we thought we were going to! :) We work 4 days a week and are off 3 days. Our hours are usually 8:30-5:30 pm. We really like our workkamper friends we have met and work with and have had lots of fun with them. We are planning on leaving here around Sept. 24 and heading to Stockton for a week then onto Topeka via Salina for a couple of days at least!

So check back again and see what we have done for the day!
Take care!
Let us hear from you!
